Tribute to LEE YOON HO (Unstoppable High Kick, 2007)

Contains SPOILERS.

I will always be in love with Yoon Ho. To tell the truth, I’ve never loved any character more than Yoon Ho. Though I love all Il Woo’s characters, Yoon Ho has a very special place in my heart.

Yoon Ho has a bad boy image and all girls are swooning over him. Though he enjoys girls‘ attention and tries to keep his cool image he’s not a playboy by any means.  He’s crazy about motorbikes. He rides bikes all the time and that causes him a lot of troubles. Though he’s very popular among girls, he doesn’t date anybody. At first because he’s more interested in bikes and video games and later because he falls in love with his homeroom teacher - Seo Min Jung.

But Min Jung starts dating Yoon Ho’s uncle and later they get engaged which creates a bizarre love triangle. In the show there’s a 10-year age gap between Yoon Ho (he’s 16 at the beginning, 18 by the end of the show) and Min Jung (26). But when they are together the one who acts more mature is actually Yoon Ho. The way he cares about her and all the little things he does for her… he’s a real man. Not for a second I considered him as a kid and it was all thanks to Il Woo’s acting (and his appearance obviously :D, no real 16-year old kid can look so hot like that :D).

Even though it was his first TV project and his acting wasn’t smooth all the time, he still stole my heart from the first second. His acting improved gradually and by the end of the show he was more than convincing in the intense scenes. Maybe because it was his first drama all Yoon Ho’s gestures were… more natural. By ‘natural’ I mean that it was more or less Il Woo’s own gestures… Il Woo’s laugher… Il Woo’s sweet smile. A lot people prefer the way the looks right now, but I miss his chubby cheeks very much. I wish he could gain weight and have rounder cheeks. Maybe thanks to his baby face, chubby cheeks and vulnerable look in his eyes I truly believed that he was experiencing the first love.

I’ve never rooted for anybody more than for Yoon Ho and I’ve never seen more touching teacher-student romance. Unstoppable High Kick was a family sitcom so it was only hinted that their relationship is more than an ordinary one… it was always left to the viewer’s imagination.

I don’t know if she truly didn’t realize his love for her or she just pretended not to know, but she was quite often all lovey dovey with Yoon Ho’s uncle in front of him. And each time… it just crushed my heart so badly… If he was older and if she saw him as man he could at least confess his feelings even though he would be rejected. But being her student and a nephew of her boyfriend/fiancé he had to keep his feelings to himself.  Well, the ending surprised me because I lost all my hope they would end up together. The viewers were left with an open ending but once again… it was hinted that their relationship could take a new (possibly romantic) direction.

Prepare yourselves for Yoon Ho gifspam!!! :)
